    September 5 9/5, 12:59pm Building PAWS RC No-Kill Animal Shelter of Rutherford County NC

    We do have that drop box - but we are currently seeking ways to modify it, tear out cinder blocks and replace with wire fencing, and open it up with runs for animals. Please see the posts of Christine Hume End Bsl and others on Building PAWS RC No-Kill Animal Shelter. We have met as a community (2 weeks ago) and we are now adopting the No-Kill Equation of Nathan Winograd's No-Kill Advocacy Group. We have a mentor from LuLu's Rescue in PA who is helping too. A part of the problem with the drop box is, when it was closed to animals a few years ago, people tied animals up to the fence and they were attacked by other dogs outside the facility; dogs were left taped in boxes, and some were left taped in plastic containers. The current drop box is awful, but the alternative was worse. This is a county facility. We as a no-kill group will be asking the County to open it up. If not, we will try to raise the funds needed to do this while we are in the process of building our new no-kill shelter. Our neighbor county is still using a gas chamber. At least with the drop box, there is a chance for the animals.
